Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 19th June 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by Steady Paws, operated by Cherene Hill.

By booking a consultation, behaviour support session, dog walking service, or other service provided by Steady Paws, clients agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Services

Steady Paws provides behaviour support, welfare education, dog walking services, and guidance designed to help owners better understand and support their dog's behaviour and wellbeing.

Behaviour is influenced by many factors, including the dog's history, environment, health, genetics, emotional state, and daily experiences. While professional guidance and support are provided, specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

2. Owner Responsibility

The owner or handler remains fully responsible for their dog at all times.

Clients agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about their dog's behaviour, history, and health

  • Inform Steady Paws of any known aggression, reactivity, or bite history

  • Follow guidance and support recommendations responsibly

  • Ensure their dog is handled safely during sessions

Disclosure of Aggression or Bite History

Clients must disclose any known history of aggression, biting, or threatening behaviour prior to a consultation or behaviour support session. This includes incidents involving people or other animals, whether injury occurred or not.

Failure to provide accurate information may result in the refusal or termination of services.

3. Safety and Management Measures

Where appropriate, Steady Paws may recommend safety or management measures such as the use of leads, muzzles, barriers, environmental management, or changes to routine in order to support safe behaviour work.

Clients agree to follow reasonable safety guidance provided during consultations. Steady Paws reserves the right to pause, reschedule, or discontinue a session if recommended safety measures are not followed and the situation is considered unsafe.

4. Veterinary Responsibility

Behaviour concerns can sometimes have underlying medical causes.

Clients are responsible for seeking veterinary advice where appropriate. Steady Paws may recommend veterinary assessment if a medical factor is suspected or where further investigation may be beneficial.

Behaviour support provided by Steady Paws does not replace veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

5. Welfare-Led Practice

Steady Paws follows reward-based, welfare-led approaches that prioritise the emotional and physical wellbeing of the dog.

Approaches that rely on fear, pain, intimidation, coercion, or unnecessary aversive methods are not supported as part of Steady Paws services.

The welfare and wellbeing of the individual dog will always be considered when providing behaviour support and guidance.

6. Payments

Payment terms will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Services are typically payable in advance unless otherwise agreed.

Prices are subject to change; however, confirmed bookings will always be honoured at the agreed rate.

7. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Clients are asked to provide at least 24 hours' notice if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged in full.

Steady Paws reserves the right to reschedule appointments due to illness, emergencies, severe weather, or circumstances beyond reasonable control.

8. Behaviour Progress and Outcomes

Behaviour change is a gradual process and progress varies between dogs.

Many factors influence behaviour, including health, environment, stress levels, previous experiences, and day-to-day management.

In some cases, behaviour may temporarily appear to worsen as a dog adjusts to new routines, environmental changes, or support plans.

Steady Paws provides professional guidance using welfare-led approaches; however, results cannot be guaranteed and progress depends on a range of factors, including owner implementation and the individual needs of the dog.

9. Liability

Steady Paws takes all reasonable care when providing services. However, animal behaviour can be unpredictable.

Steady Paws cannot be held liable for any injury, damage, loss, or costs arising from a dog's behaviour before, during, or after consultations, behaviour support sessions, walks, or other services.

Responsibility for the dog's behaviour, management, and welfare remains with the owner or handler at all times.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes liability where such limitation or exclusion is not permitted by law.

10. Intellectual Property

Behaviour support plans, educational materials, worksheets, handouts, written guidance, website content, and other resources provided by Steady Paws remain the intellectual property of Steady Paws unless otherwise stated.

These materials are provided for personal use only and may not be reproduced, copied, shared, distributed, adapted, published, or sold without prior written permission.

11. Changes to These Terms

Steady Paws may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The most recent version will always be available on the website.

Continued use of Steady Paws services following any updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms & Conditions.
